About Me

I started my journey in higher education in June of 2014 when I decided it was time to get my bachelor degree in Instructional Design & technology. I graduated in 2018 with my degree, and before I lost my momentum, I signed back up for the Master's program. Now, I have just begun my Master in Instructional Design and Technology, and I couldn’t be happier. However, I never thought at 45 I would be in college getting a degree, but I knew its something I had to do for myself.

I am a mother of two great children who are grown and have families of their own now. I am a Gigi to three of the most wonderful grandchildren. They bring me so much joy every day. I have two amazing fur babies, one named Cooper (Golden Retriever) and one Daisy (Rat-Terrier/Chihuahua). I love that they were both rescues but more than that they have rescued me from some dark times. It's amazing the unconditional love a dog gives it's human and to have that love times two is more than I could ever ask for in my life.

I work for a company called Dearborn National. We are a subsidiary of Health Care Service Corporation. I am a learning consultant in the Learning & Development department. I write and create the training material used for new hire classes and career path training. I started at Dearborn National in 2006 as a customer advocate. My training class was eight weeks longs with a book named “Big Bertha” and 17 participants in a small classroom. After about four weeks I told myself while I was studying one night if I ever get in a position where I would be training or creating material, I would get rid of this binder and make training fun. In 2010 I got my chance when I was promoted to the training department as a facilitator. Then I started school because I wanted to be the Learning Consultant. I wanted to write and create the material that the facilitators used to train. I got my change in 2015 as I was promoted to Learning consultant after being in college for just one year. Now I am four years in, working on a Masters and creating innovated designs and materials to keep my classes engaged and learning.
